On the former Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) site on the lake side of the tracks, the "Bahnhof Süd" (South Station) project will see the construction of six new buildings with 37 affordable apartments, small businesses, and a local convenience store. Voters approved the corresponding development plan in November 2017. The municipality is the developer for the section on the station square side (buildings I (A) - III (C)). For the section on the Thalwil side (buildings IV (D) - VI (F)), the municipal council has appointed the Rüschlikon Housing Foundation.
