SuedOstLink is a grid expansion project planned as an underground cable connection by the two transmission system operators TenneT TSO GmbH and 50Hertz GmbH, and implemented at a voltage level of 525 kV (direct current). The German Federal Government approved the need for SuedOstLink and enshrined it in the Federal Requirements Plan Act as projects V5 and V5a. Project V5 runs between Wolmirstedt in Saxony-Anhalt and ISAR near Landshut. It was approved by the Bundestag in 2015 and included in the Federal Requirements Plan Act with a transmission capacity of 2 gigawatts. To cover the additional transmission requirement of another 2 gigawatts, project V5a is being implemented from Klein Rogahn to ISAR near Landshut. With the entry into force of the amendment in March 2021, project V5a was also included in the Federal Requirements Plan Act. From Klein Rogahn to the Thuringia-Bavaria state border, the transmission system operator 50Hertz is responsible for the line. In Bavaria, TenneT is planning and constructing the SuedOstLink power line from Münchenreuth, in the district of Hof, to the ISAR grid connection point in the district of Landshut. In Bavaria, SuedOstLink is divided into the following sections: C1 (Münchenreuth to Marktredwitz), C2 (Marktredwitz to Pfreimd), D1 (Pfreimd to Nittenau), D2 (Nittenau to Pfatter), D3a (Pfatter to the A92 motorway near ISAR), and D3b (ISAR converter area). This tender covers the landscape conservation measures planned for planting in autumn 2025 and their maintenance in connection with the construction of SuedOstLink. These reforestation measures, including forest edge design, are described in the documents attached to this tender. The work encompasses soil preparation, planting, fencing, habitat creation, and completion and development maintenance. The work is scheduled to begin in autumn 2025.
