The Burggymnasium has a single-court sports hall, built approximately 50 years ago. Due to its age-related structural and technical condition, a comprehensive renovation is necessary. The sports hall is located on a listed property and is surrounded by listed buildings. Close cooperation with the heritage preservation authorities is required for the facade design to comply with heritage preservation guidelines. The project aims for a complete gut renovation of the hall to improve its functionality, safety, and energy efficiency while respecting heritage preservation principles. The sports hall includes the hall itself with one sports court, two changing rooms, two sanitary facilities, a changing room for teachers, and a storage/equipment room. The initial phases of the project will examine whether the floor plan of the ancillary rooms can be modified to create two teachers' changing rooms. Further floor plan modifications are conceivable and will be evaluated. The gut renovation will likely involve stripping all structural components down to the load-bearing framework. Among other things, the roof structure, the facade including the windows, the wall and floor structures, etc., as well as all technical systems, are to be renovated following an inspection. A preliminary, random sample survey for pollutants was conducted. The corresponding documents are attached and serve as an initial guide. However, it is important to emphasize that these results represent only a preliminary assessment and do not replace a complete site investigation. A comprehensive and proper investigation is therefore still required for sound planning. The structure was examined by a commissioned structural engineer. He concluded that the building's load-bearing structure is in good condition. Maintenance work on the load-bearing structure is only necessary in a few areas.
