Germany – Camouflage covers – Beschaffung von mobilen multispektralen Tarnausstattungen (MMT) für SPz PUMA

Based on experience already gained in the field and considering anticipated operational scenarios, it is necessary to procure a version of the Mobile Multispectral Camouflage (MMT) adapted to the prevailing conditions in the operational areas. The MMT is a modular camouflage system. It can be retrofitted to a vehicle or mobile device permanently, as needed, without any mechanical modifications to the vehicle's structure. Its purpose is to visually reduce the vehicle's signature in the infrared and radar ranges without impairing mobility or mission-specific functions. To achieve optimal signature reduction, the camouflage material is geometrically tailored to the outer contours of the Puma infantry fighting vehicle. The camouflage remains on the vehicle until major repairs are carried out; however, it can be removed or replaced at any time. The MMT can also be supplemented with camouflage material from the surrounding environment (e.g., natural materials) if required. The MMT is available in various versions to enable deployment in forested regions with predominantly green vegetation, arid and steppe-like hot regions with sparse vegetation, as well as snowy and mountainous regions. Current plans call for a contract to deliver one prototype of the MMT "woodland" variant, followed by a series procurement of up to 300 vehicle sets (total of all versions).
