The state capital Magdeburg, represented by its municipal building management department (KGM), is planning a comprehensive modernization of the Magdeburg City Hall. The City Hall complex is listed as a historical monument by the State Office for Monument Preservation. The fundamental objectives of the modernization are: • Upgrading the listed building with regard to its amenities and usability • Ensuring compliance with building regulations regarding safety, particularly fire protection • Reconstructing the building's volume in accordance with the original design concept, while respecting its listed status • Optimizing the operational possibilities of the city hall, in particular through: - Improving access for the stage of the main hall - Improving sightlines to the stage in the main hall - Upgrading the building services and event technology - Expanding the range of flexibly usable event and conference rooms - Renovating the kitchen areas - Upgrading the energy efficiency of the building envelope while considering the requirements of historic preservation • Developing a lighting concept to improve the building's visual impact within the urban landscape of Magdeburg • Improving the outdoor spaces (removing various existing structures) • Creating effective flood protection ------------------ Implementation period: Technical preparations: June 6, 2025 – July 1, 2025 Construction: 01.07.2025 – 10.09.2026
