Germany – Construction work for school buildings – Neue Schule Pliensauvorstadt in Esslingen am Neckar, Schreinerarbeiten

The "New Esslingen School" will be a newly established three-stream secondary school and is to be built in the Pliensauvorstadt district on the site of the former Adalbert-Stifter-School. The aim is to design the "New Esslingen School" in such a way that new educational concepts can be implemented in the form of all-day schooling, as well as inclusion and preparatory classes. The section of the former Adalbert-Stifter-School building housing the cafeteria and administration (renovated in 2011) will be retained, while the former classroom wing will be demolished. A functional and future-proof comprehensive school building will be created on the site by adding a new building. The "New Esslingen School" will remain operational in the existing building during the construction of the extension. The new building will be a double-shell cast-in-place reinforced concrete structure with exposed concrete surfaces both inside and out. The exterior walls will have a core insulation layer. The planned three-story new building comprises three learning clusters connected to the existing building. The building design supports this approach through a consistent floor plan across all levels and a continuous load-bearing structure. The chosen construction method, using cast-in-place concrete for the load-bearing structure and prefabricated timber elements for the facade and interior, results in a building with the simplest and most economical construction details. The load-bearing structure consists of load-bearing columns and walls, also planned in cast-in-place concrete. These will be erected on a cast-in-place concrete foundation slab. A basement is not planned. The subject of this tender is the carpentry work.
