Extensive renovation including fire safety upgrades at the Justus von Liebig School in Mannheim - Construction Description The City of Mannheim has commissioned its subsidiary, BBS Bau- und Betriebsservice GmbH, to renovate the existing Justus von Liebig School. The city anticipates a total enrollment of approximately 450 students. It is situated between the so-called Schafweide (sheep pasture) with its public traffic area and the Hermann-Heimerich-Ufer (Neckar Riverbank). Access to the school is only possible from the west, via Schafweide. The school is accessible via pedestrian walkways; access to the schoolyard is possible by prior arrangement. Access is normally restricted by retractable bollards. Access for trucks is possible by prior arrangement. The school's building services and fire safety systems on all floors will be brought up to current and legally required standards. As part of the renovation work, additional rooms will be created, walls, floors, and ceilings will be replaced, and hazardous materials will be removed. New restrooms will be built on the ground floor and in the central stairwell.
