The Lauenburg Lock was built by the Lauenburg Waterways and Shipping Authority as a replacement for the old Hotopp Lock and opened in 2006. It is located at kilometer 60.175 in the Elbe-Lübeck Canal (ELK) and provides access to the Elbe River. The lock chamber has a usable length of 115 meters and a chamber width of 12.50 meters. The drop varies between a minimum of 3.91 meters and a maximum of 4.85 meters, depending on the Elbe's water level. The upper gate is a rotating segment gate, driven on one side by a hydraulic cylinder. The lock chamber is filled via the so-called filling shell of the rotating segment gate. The lower gate of the Lauenburg Lock is a mitre gate. Each of the two leaves of the mitre gate is driven by a horizontally arranged hydraulic cylinder (see: Lower Gate Overview). The lock is emptied by two short gate swings equipped with sliding segment gates. The aim of this measure is: • Replacement of the drive cylinder of the swing gate in the upper gate • Replacement of the two drive cylinders of the drawgate segments in the lower gate. The work includes: Purpose and use: Ensuring the functionality and operational safety of the swing gate and the mitre gate. Type and scope: Supply, dismantling, installation, and commissioning of the drive cylinders, as well as comprehensive functional tests. Corrosion protection. Waste disposal: Professional disposal of the old drive cylinders and associated components. | The Lauenburg Lock was built by the Lauenburg Waterways and Shipping Authority as a replacement for the old Hotopp Lock and opened in 2006.
