The primary and secondary school and the special education center in Schönkirchen are planning an expansion on their property in three construction phases over a three-year period. The new construction, renovation, and expansion project comprises three phases: Phase 1: a three-story science classroom wing; Phase 2: a complete renovation and new furnishing of the special education school (three stories); and Phase 3: a new two-story primary school building. In Phase 2, the following sections of the secondary school in Augustental will be renovated: Secondary School Section 1, Secondary School Section 2, and the special education center. Additionally, an existing connecting corridor between Secondary School Section 1 and the special education center will be demolished and replaced with a new connecting structure. The renovation work in all building sections includes the complete building services and the majority of interior surfaces. Some floor plan adjustments will also be made. All windows in the building envelope will be replaced, with the exception of those on the southeast facade of Secondary School Section 2. The flat roofs of the special education center and Secondary School Section 2 will also be replaced. Similarly, the facades of building sections GemS 1 and GemS 2 are being renovated. The new facades will be constructed as existing facades using HPL panels.
