Spain – Sewage work – Contratación de obras finalización del saneamiento del río Barbaña. Mejora de la EDAR de San Cibrao Das Viñas Fase II (Ourense)

The project in question was declared to be of general interest to the State in Law 22/1997, of July 8, which approved and declared certain hydraulic works to be of general interest under the heading “Improvement of the sanitation system in Ourense.” Within the “General Collaboration Protocol between the Ministry of the Environment, the Regional Government of Galicia, and the Northern Hydrographic Confederation for the development of certain hydraulic works of general interest in the Autonomous Community of Galicia,” signed on December 9, 1999, several projects for the “Improvement of the sanitation system in Ourense” were carried out, including the “Upgrading of the main collectors and interceptors of the Barbaña River.” To complement this project, the Hydrological Plan for the Miño-Sil River Basin District included the works mentioned in the aforementioned heading. The Miño-Sil River Basin Management Plan establishes the following necessary measures: improving and completing the San Cibrao Wastewater Treatment Plant with tertiary treatment, and upgrading the sewer systems serving the Barreiros and San Cibrao das Viñas industrial parks. The objective of these measures is to achieve good ecological and chemical status for this water body by 2027. Funded by the ERDF program. Spanish Multiregional Program ERDF 21-27 (2021ES16RFPR001).
