Netherlands – Installation of cable infrastructure – Programma capaciteitsuitbreiding elektriciteitsnet Rijnland Beneden Noord Holland (NuRijnland) en Veluwe-Gooi-Flevoland (NuMeren)

The electricity grid is becoming increasingly congested in more and more places in the Rijnland-Beneden Noord-Holland and Veluwe-Gooi-Flevoland regions. This is due, among other things, to the growing economy, the digitalization of society, the record-breaking pace of house building, and the switch of many entrepreneurs and consumers from natural gas to electricity. Moreover, these regions are attractive for the generation of sustainable energy via solar and wind farms. The electricity grid needs to be expanded for this purpose. However, this is not happening as quickly as the pace at which developments are currently taking place. This program, involving the laying of thousands of kilometers of cable and the installation of a large number of new substations, is an important means of solving the problems in the electricity grid. In this way, Liander enables further sustainability and economic development in these regions.
