Briefly about the competition Preikestolen is located in Lysefjorden, which lasts for 42 kilometers and is one of Norway's most spectacular and varied fjords. Lysefjorden is surrounded by impressive high and precipitous mountains. Lysefjorden offers some of Norway's most awesome hiking experiences. The Preikestolen, along with Flørli, famous for the world's longest wooden stairway and the carriage bolt, makes up three of the most famous sights. A new visitor center at Preikestolen parking shall take care of the most important assignments and functions connected to a spectacular and safe trip to Preikestolen. The purpose of establishing a welcome center is to solve our assignment, which is mainly to safeguard the guests and ensure the good experience from when they arrive at the area until they travel again. Besides the actual arrival to the place, the center will be the first and last experience in connection with the trip and shall contribute to achieving our vision. The planning and design competition starts with an initial prequalification that is open, with a "Concept sketch for the new visitor center Preikestolen". (Up to 3 A3 pages. Anonymous). In the prequalification part of the planning and design competition, the selection committee/jury will choose up to three draft proposals that go on to the planning and design competition. The three participants will receive NOK 3 in the planning and design competition. NOK 400,000 excluding VAT in fees per team for a fully developed competition project. The selection of the 3 draft proposals and the evaluation of the further developed proposals in the design competition will be made by the same jury. The anonymity principle is taken care of in both the prequalification and the design competition. The National Association of Norwegian Architects (NAL) is announcing this design competition on behalf of Stiftelsen Preikestolen. See the competition program for more information.
