Norway – Waste-treatment plant construction work – 130032 Reconstruction ESA after fire. Turnkey contract building

IVAR post-sorting plant was commissioned in 2019. It contained a line for sorting residual waste and a line for sorting source sorted paper waste, based on NIR technology. In 2022 it was subjected to a large fire, in which the part of the building containing process installations for reception and sorting was completely damaged. It has been decided that the plant shall be renovated in the same building. The facility consisted of the following halls: • Reception hall • Sorting hall • Stores for sorted balls • Washing/extruder-hall •Administration • Technical rooms • Closed conveyor belt for Forus Energy Recovery • Pipes for air-exhaust It is mainly the reception hall, sorting hall and "technical wing" over 4 floors that have been burned out. Adjoining technical rooms and storage are also affected by the fire. The residue waste facility sorted out 5 plastic types, metal and paper. Source sorted paper sorted into 4 types. When rebuilding, it is possible that the reception and sorting hall will be used for only residue waste, and less plastic fractions will be assessed. Localisation of post-sorting source sorted paper has not yet been clarified per day. The building with technical disciplines must be completed before the installation of the machines starts. Inergen was used as extinguishing agents for the plant. The reconstruction will mainly replace it with water. The process facility will also include extinguishing installations. Following-up the fire concept and coordination of this with all disciplines is an important part of the assignment. A fire consultant will be transported to the turnkey contractor.
