Term Service Contract For Coal Spoil Tip Maintenance in Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen County Boroughs

The Authorities wish to enter a five (5) year contract for the provision of permanent and temporary works which comprise the maintenance of former colliery sites including former colliery surface operational areas, spoil tips and spoil tips previously subject to reclamation within the geographical boundaries of Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen.
The works consist of earthworks, drainage and other ancillary works as remedial measures e.g. works involving cleansing of existing watercourses and re-lining or the construction of new.
The Contractor will be required to assist the Council's in the planning stages (co-ordination and programming) as well as offering expertise in respect of buildability and preferred treatments.
It is proposed to carry out a prescribed programme of maintenance works during Summer months and to also undertake ad-hoc remedial measures following severe periods of weather.
