Opportunity Overview

The development objective of the Green Industry Project for Türkiye is to support an efficient green transformation for industrial firms in Türkiye. The project comprises of four components. The first component, support industrial small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to improve their energy and resource performance and reduce their carbon emissions aim is to tap into the potential of industrial SMEs for energy efficiency and renewable energy. It consists of following sub-components: (i) solar energy investments by industrial SMEs; (ii) mobilizing industry for a clean and circular economy; and (iii) capacity building and technical assistance to SMEs Development Organization of Türkiye (KOSGEB). The second component, contingent emergency response component (CERC) is for contingent emergency response through the provision of immediate response to an eligible crisis or emergency, as needed. The third component, green innovation by industrial enterprises will support innovation activities for climate change mitigation and adaptation and sustainability in Turkish industrial firms. It consists of following sub-components: (i) climate‐informed and green innovation technology extension program; (ii) green industrial research and development (R and D) and innovation program; (iii) industrial innovation networks pilot; and (iv) capacity building and technical assistance to Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK). The fourth component, project management and institutional development aim is to lay the institutional foundation for the implementation of the national green transition agenda, support Ministry of Industry and Technology (MoIT) in developing new strategies and policies on green transition of industry (legislation, support mechanisms, market surveillance), and support the overall project management.
