The University of Colorado, Division of Geriatrics is the only academic source in Colorado that is hosting a regional geriatric specific conference. This conference will educate a multi-professional audience on advancing care for older adults with serious illnesses. It will focus on the unique challenges and needs of geriatric patients facing hospitalization and surgery. Topics will include aligning surgery with patients goals, managing geriatric specific health needs, improving discharge processes, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration in care.
Additionally, the conference will address key policy issues, such as age-friendly measures, state aging master plans, and advocacy efforts, while emphasizing the importance of shared decision-making and co-management. By offering relevant educational content, the event aims to promote best practices, support professional development, and provide Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for participants.
