The objective of the Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Growth and Rural Enterprise Ecosystem Strengthening Project for India is to increase farmers' income through improved crop productivity, climate resilience, and commercialization of agri-food systems in Selected Regions of Uttar Pradesh. The project has five components, the first being productivity enhancement. This component focuses on strengthening agricultural productivity and resilience against the backdrop of high levels of climate risks and variability in productivity across the project areas. This component includes four subcomponents: resource use efficiency, seed systems, agri-extension, and leveraging climate action mechanisms. The second component is the commodity clusters. This component will support the integration of smallholder farmers into value chains for select high-value commodities. The project will help ‘commodity clusters’, networks of producers, agribusinesses, and public institutions within a defined geographic area engaged in the same agricultural subsector. This component includes three subcomponents: crop clusters, agri special economic zones, fisheries, and integrated agriculture export hubs. The third component is the digital and financial ecosystems. This component includes two subcomponents: digital architecture, technology services, and agri finance ecosystem. The fourth component is project management, learning, and partnerships. Finally, the fifth component is the Contingent Emergency Response Component (CERC).
