Water Supply and Sanitation Access Program (PASEA) Project

The development objective of the Water Supply and Sanitation Access Program (PASEA) Project for Congo, Democratic Republic of (DRC) is to increase access to basic drinking water supply and sanitation services in selected provinces of the DRC and to strengthen the capacity of the public and private sector for drinking water supply and sanitation service delivery. The project comprises of four components. The first component, increasing access to and capacities for drinking water supply service delivery consists of following sub-components: (i) increasing access to drinking water supply in rural and peri-urban areas; (ii) improving performance of private and not-for profit water operators; and (iii) strengthening public institutions and capacities for drinking water services. The second component, increasing access to and capacities for sanitation service delivery consists of following sub-components: (i) increasing access to sanitation and hygiene in rural and peri-urban areas; (ii) improving water, sanitation, and hygiene in institutions; (iii) developing the private sector for sanitation and hygiene; and (iv) strengthening public institutions and capacities for sanitation services. The third component, project management, learning, and scale-up consists of following sub-components: (i) project management and learning; and (ii) scale-up phase 2. The fourth component, contingency emergency response component with zero allocation may be used to contribute to an emergency response through the timely implementation of activities in response to an eligible national emergency.
