Zhejiang Qiandao Lake and Xin'an River Basin Water Resources and Ecological Environment Protection Project

The development objective of Zhejiang Qiandao Lake and Xin'an River Basin Water Resources and Ecological Environment Protection Project for China is to strengthen integrated pollution and watershed management and increase access to improved water supply in selected landscapes in support of Zhejiang's program for the protection of Qiandao Lake and Xin’an River Basin. This project has three components. 1) The first component, Landscape Management Improvement, has the following subcomponents: (i) Climate Smart Agriculture; (ii) Livestock waste management (LWM); (iii) Forestry ecosystem protection; and (iv) Wetland management. 2) The second component, Water Resources Management Improvement, has the following subcomponents: (i) Wastewater management; (ii) Water course improvement; and (iii) Potable water supplies in rural areas. 3) The third component, Institutional Capacity Building, Monitoring and Project Management, aims to finance technical assistance, training and extension, research and studies, awareness raising, monitoring and evaluation (M and E), and project management. It has the following subcomponents: (i) Technical assistance and training; (ii) Study and research program; (iii) Monitoring and Evaluation (M and E) System; and (iv) Cooperation with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) on Payment for Ecological Services (PES) pilot.
