Le muséum d'Histoire Naturelle et le musée des Antiquités, tous deux fondés au XIXe siècle, occupent aujourd'hui des locaux vétustes, datés pour partie du XVIIe XIXe et XXe siècles. La rénovation de ces deux bâtiments est l'occasion de repenser dans leur intégralité les équipements dont les collections sont appelées à fusionner dans un futur musée sous le nom de "Pôle Muséal Beauvoisine" à Rouen.
