The development objective of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness Project for Mongolia is to strengthen Mongolia’s capacity to prevent and respond to the COVID-19 outbreak and strengthen national systems for public health preparedness. The project comprises of four components. The first component, emergency COVID-19 prevention and response aim to slow down and limit the spread of COVID-19 in the country and improve preparedness for future public health emergencies. It consists of following sub-components: (i) risk communication and community engagement; (ii) response support; (iii) human resource development; and (iv) creating an enabling environment for one health. The second component, strengthening health care delivery capacity aim to strengthen essential health care service delivery to be able to provide the best care possible in the event of a surge in demand. It consists of following sub-components: (i) provision of medical and laboratory equipment and reagents; and (ii) provision of medical supplies, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and medicines. The third component, implementation management and monitoring and evaluation will support monitoring and evaluation of prevention and preparedness, building capacity for clinical and public health research, and joint-learning across and within countries. The fourth component, contingent emergency response component will contribute to providing immediate and effective response to said crisis or emergency.
