This public contract concerns the definition of specific technical clauses relating to the execution of traditional binding work for the heritage collections of the library of the French Defence Historical Service (SHD), in nine of the ten geographical locations of the SHD: Brest, Caen, Châtellerault, Cherbourg, Lorient, Pau, Rochefort, Toulon, and Vincennes. New bindings are carried out on new or old documents, in good or used condition. They may be supplemented by related services such as minor repairs, performed during the binding work and intended to ensure the mechanical resistance of the documents, monographs, or periodicals, so as to guarantee their proper preservation and accessibility to the public. The most common repairs concern the hinges, spine, corners, stitching, the application of tissue guards, the endpapers, and the repair of tears on maps or leaflets.
