Pursuant to Law No. 2015-991 of August 7, 2015, concerning the new territorial organization of the Republic, known as the NOTRe Law, the Gulf of Saint-Tropez Intermunicipal Authority (GST) has been responsible for the mandatory management of aquatic environments and flood prevention (GEMAPI) since January 1, 2018. In this capacity, its mission includes, among other things, equipping coastal areas requiring improvements to mitigate erosion and monitoring and maintaining its existing and relocated maritime structures (seawalls, dikes, groynes, underwater breakwaters, etc.). The implementation and maintenance of these structures require: - Prior to implementation: preliminary studies (bathymetric and environmental) of the proposed sites. - After completion: the monitoring and maintenance of the structures, the evaluation of the effectiveness of the constructed structures, and the monitoring of changes in their environment. Furthermore, by virtue of its responsibility for maritime areas, the local authority is required to carry out missions to acquire knowledge and monitor the marine environment.
