Carrier liability under the applicable transport convention is limited by weight and is usually far below the value of the cargo, so cargo insurance is a separate and often mandatory line. Customs authorisations, dangerous goods certification, and temperature-controlled capability with monitored and auditable data are conditions rather than advantages where the cargo requires them. Track and trace with electronic proof of delivery, and the transit times a bidder commits to rather than advertises, are what the contract measures afterwards.
